Puratan Janmashanker Buch was born on 2 October 1907 in Junagadh. He studied at the Gujarat Vidyapith. When Gandhiji started the Dandi March on 12 March 1930 to break the salt law, he also joined the group of soldiers of the March. Later on, he joined the Dharasana satyagraha. He was arrested and imprisoned in the Nasik jail. He stayed in the Harijan Ashram and did various experiments from 1933 to 1941. He wrote two books on the removal of untouchability and spinning. He was arrested for participating in the ‘Quit India’ movement in 1942. After 1948, he visited a number of villages to study their condition. He wrote a book on Amber Charkha. He had written around 15 books.
