Ravjibhai Nathabhai Patel

Ravjibhai Nathabhai Patel was born on 3 June 1899 at Sojitra village of Kheda district. He left the college following the call of the non-cooperation movement in 1920 and joined the Satyagraha Ashram of Gandhi. He carried out khadi activities in Prantij town for four months. He worked for the flood relief in 1927. He was one of the 79 satyagrahis selected for the Dandi March by Gandhi. He was arrested and imprisoned. In the second phase of the movement in 1932, he was again sent to jail. In 1932, he founded the Udyog Mandir in Bhalada and made it a center of constructive activities. In 1940, he founded the Jilla Audyogik Sahkari Mandali and took over as chairman. He was appointed a member of the Khadi and Village Industries Board by the Government of India. He was detained and imprisoned in the ‘Quit India’ movement in 1942. He died in a jeep accident on 3rd May 1959.
