Madhav Rao

Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh

April 15, 2025 to April 15, 2028

Madhav Rao, born in Khisora village, Dhamtari district, was the son of Shri Devsay Rao. His primary education took place in Dhamtari, where he developed a deep passion for the nation from a young age. As a child, Madhav was actively involved in distributing leaflets for agitators, showing his early commitment to the cause. His dedication continued as he participated in Individual Satyagraha and contributed to raising national consciousness in Dhamtari city.

When the Quit India Movement began on 9 August 1942, Madhav Rao joined the national movement with fervent enthusiasm. He took part in a significant meeting and procession in Dhamtari, which saw a large turnout of activists. During the event, Madhav actively raised slogans and protested against the British colonial government. His actions, however, led to his arrest.

Following his arrest, Madhav Rao was imprisoned in the Raipur Central Jail. His sentence lasted from a total of about six months. Despite the harsh conditions, his participation in the Quit India Movement exemplified his unwavering commitment to India's struggle for independence. His involvement not only demonstrated his dedication but also contributed significantly to the national cause, highlighting the courageous efforts of individuals in our freedom movement.
