Chuttan Lal, born in 1910 in Delhi's bustling Sabzi Mandi, was a deeply patriotic figure whose commitment to India's freedom struggle was unwavering. The son of Shri Mukand Ram, Chuttan passionately joined the 'Quit India' Movement of 1942, driven by a fervent desire for independence. His dedication was put to test when he was arrested and sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment on 31 December 1942.

Despite the severe conditions of his confinement, Chuttan's resolve remained steadfast. His resilience and strong character shone through, earning him a remarkable remission of 205 days. This act of clemency was a testament to his exceptional conduct and unwavering belief in the principles he fought for. After enduring almost a year and a half of harsh imprisonment, Chuttan was released on 5 June 1944.

His release marked a momentous occasion, symbolizing not just his freedom but also the broader struggle for India's liberation. Chuttan Lal's journey through adversity and his eventual return to freedom struggle epitomize the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for our better future.
