Chattar Singh, born in 1922 in the tranquil village of Lado Sarai, Delhi, to his father Shri Sheesh Ram, led a life marked by remarkable dedication and honour despite limited formal education. His journey began with modest schooling, reaching only the fourth grade, yet his aspirations soared far beyond his early years. Driven by a profound sense of duty and patriotism, Chattar enlisted in the Indian Army, serving valiantly in 22 IBT.
Chattar’s commitment to the nation eventually drew him to the Azad Hind Fauj, a revolutionary army led by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Embracing this pivotal moment, Chattar became an integral part of the Azad Hind Fauj, where his exceptional skills and unwavering dedication were quickly recognized. He was appointed as a Naik in the Supreme Command Headquarters, a role that placed him at the core of strategic planning and decision-making within the revolutionary force.
Chattar's ascent from his humble beginnings in a small Delhi village to a significant position in the Azad Hind Fauj underscores his resilience, courage, and devotion to the cause of Indian independence. His legacy stands a testament to his selfless service and loyalty, inspiring others with his extraordinary contributions to the freedom struggle.
