Surjaram Kumhar, born on 10 May 1925, to Shri Halal Kumhar in Bhadra tehsil, received his early education locally. He became actively involved in the Bikaner Rajya Praja Parishad's activities in the Ganganagar district. With great dedication, Surjaram embarked on foot journeys across villages in Bhadra tehsil, distributing Tiranga badges and spreading the message of Praja-Parishad, aiming to empower locals to resist the injustices imposed by the ruling elite.

Surjaram's activism drew the ire of the authorities, leading to numerous instances of physical assault at various police stations in Bhadra tehsil. Despite the harsh treatment, he remained undeterred. His steadfast commitment to the cause culminated in his arrest and subsequent sentencing to six months in prison by the Rajgarh court on charges of treason.

Even after his imprisonment, Surjaram Kumhar continued his tireless work as a committed Congress worker in the Bhadra tehsil. His dedication to justice and resilience in the face of adversity have marked him as a significant figure in the region’s political landscape. His legacy reflects a profound commitment to challenging oppressive systems and advocating for the rights of the marginalized.
