Anukul Chatterjee

Anukul Chatterjee was born on 11 January 1908 at Madaripur, Faridpur. His father’s name was Sarat Chandra Chatterjee. He joined the ‘Yugantar Party’ He was arrested in Angaria, Postal Mail Action on 16 May 1932. There were two other accused persons Jogneswar Das and Jogesh Chakraborty, concurrently sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. He was deported to the Cellular Jail. Anukul was one of the participants in the hunger strike in July 1937  for 37 days. He was repatriated to the mainland in 1937. After release, he was detained in jail for anti-war activities (II World War) in 1940. He was released in 1946. The total jail period is more than 11 years.
