Shri Dhirendra Singh became an active participant in the freedom movement after being influenced by the revolutionaries like Mahavir Singh of Rajasthan. Influenced by the famous freedom fighter Shri Hiralal Shastri ji, he started living in Vanasthali. He learned the work of spinning, carding and weaving there. Thereafter, while playing an active role in the Praja Mandal, he began working against the tyranny of jagirdars. He was a Satyagrahi. Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, he struggled for the upliftment of villages. He adopted Khadi since the very beginning. He also established the Khadi Commission for the promotion of Khadi among the masses. Dhirendra Singh was a courageous, fearless and dignified person by nature.
