Bonangi Pandu Padal

He was born in a peasant family – Vishakhapatnam District in present Andhra Pradesh. He was one of the devoted and trusted warriors of the Rumpa Peasant War, 1922-24. Alluri Sitarama Raju, the guide leader and supreme commander of the Rumpa Peasant War, visited their village one day and appealed to the villagers to join the fight against the British Raj. Bonangi Pandu Padal along with many villagers joined the Peasant army. He became one of the trusted lieutenants of Alluri Sitarama Raju. The Government declared a heavy reward for his head. He was arrested after shooting down to the death of Sitarama Raju by the British Military officer Major Good. All freedom fighters were placed on trial and sentenced to transportation for life along with several other peasant warriors. He was deported to the Andamans. After release, he settled down in the Andamans. He breathed his last in 1974.
