Naren Ghosh Chowdhury came in contact with revolutionaries, particularly of Swami Pragyananda while he was a school student. He was arrested in connection with Shibpur (Nadia) Action on 30 September, 1915. The Trial Court sentenced to life term and deported to the Andamans. After repatriation and release again he was detained behind prison bars for many years. It is to be noted that the boat used by the revolutionaries in this action was kept as memento at the Krishnanagar Court Compound.
